A New Morning
Oil and acrylic on linen
100 cm x 150 cm
2021
“A New Morning” depicts an imagined landscape in its transition. It captures rays of bright light drenching the early morning, penetrating the remains of the night filled with chaos, entanglements and unknowns. The rays of light speak of resilience, hope, optimism and anticipation while the past, woven with uncertainties and complexities, faded into obscurity.
The 9 o’clock flower, a flower that blooms only in the morning, not only represents the arrival of a new morning but serves as a poignant reminder that time is fleeting with its edges dissolving. However, this also implies that as one day ends, another will always begin again.
This work is about how our past shapes us while also allowing space for us to have new beginnings. The light in the painting becomes a metaphor for personal growth and constant process of self-renewal. It is a light that heals, reveals and inspires and this work reminds us that the unwavering human spirit always seeks to rise above the shadows.
